  • Stepped Throne of the Incas cut into the Rodadero, a giant diorite rock hill, exactly opposite Sacsayhuamán, an Inca walled complex built in the 15th century near the old city of Cuzco, at an altitude of 3,701m. Its function prior to the conquest remains a mystery. But if the outcrop represents the back of a snake, as has been suggested, the throne is riding on its back.
