It is the central memorial for the Austrian victims of the Holocaust and was designed by the British artist Rachel Whiteread. Unveiled on 25 October 2000, Inscriptions below the doors read "In commemoration of more than 65,000 Austrian Jews.who were killed by the Nazis between 1938 and 1945."
