Lady’s Tower with North Berwick Law (a volcanic plug that resisted the scraping glaciers of the ice age) across the Firth of Forth. The folly was built in the 1770s as a summerhouse and bathing house for Janet Fall, Lady Anstruther, wife of the laird of Ardross & Elie estate. Lady Anstruther is said to have enjoyed sea-bathing and sent a bell-ringer around Elie to warn the local people to keep away, to protect her modesty. Elie, Fife, Scotland.
