Two of a Kind I

Big Chute Marine Railway, a ship lift at Lock 44 of the Trent-SevernWaterway in Ontario. It works on an inclined plane to carry boats in a cradle over a change 18m high. Although a conventional lock would have been simpler, the marine railway was chosen to prevent the possible migration of sea lamprey from Georgian Bay into the Trent-Severn system. Built in 1977. Ontario, Canada 1990
