Cross carved in the granite walls of Saint Catherine's Monastery (also known as Santa Katarina), Mount Sinai, Egypt. The monastery is Orthodox and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built between 548 and 565, the monastery is one of the oldest working Christian monasteries in the world. A Fatimid mosque was built within the walls of the monastery, but it has never been used since it is not correctly oriented towards Mecca.
